Kolpia Counseling focuses on a strengths based approach to treatment. The Women’s Program is designed to improve the lives of women affected by substance use through treatment, education, and advocacy. The staff at Kolpia offers a safe, non-judgmental environment while utilizing a harm reduction perspective. The Women’s Program provides skills to identify, express and process feelings in a healthy way. Skills such as assertive communication and boundary setting will be emphasized. Participation in the Women’s Program will explore the process of addiction and emotional issues related to your substance misuse. Topics such as depression, anger, grief and loss, and unhealthy/healthy relationships are covered. In addition, you will be given information about relapse prevention strategies and support with planning for the future. In addition to the Women’s Focus Groups, Kolpia Counseling also offers Parenting Classes. Chemical dependency is typically coupled with other co-occurring disorders such as depression and anxiety, trauma, sex addiction, family dysfunction and other addictive disorders. Our Mental Health staff is able to provide counseling services to support change in those areas during your treatment. While in treatment, women will receive support to explore the relationship between emotional issues, substance abuse and recovery. You can expect a warm and caring environment that encourages taking healthy risks to change your behavior. Most women leave our program with greater self-awareness, improved sense of empowerment, an increased understanding of addiction and their own patterns and enhanced self-esteem.
